Garden Projects
Overview
You can use as design elements for your own garden thuja hedges, English style lawn and flower beds. However, beside of these monocultures is also the possibility to create long-term stable and very species-rich small habitats. Inspired by impressions I have gained on my excursions, I aim to establish several mini-oecosystems in my garden. I present you some of my projects.
Each garden owner is in authority for the land consumption in Germany in a small part. Though this part of the natural habitat of native plants and animals isn’t destroyed, its structure and intrinsic value is sustainably changed.
To assume its responsibilities, it is certainly not required to rebuild the own garden to a nature reserve. If you plant instead a thuja hedge a wild hedge for example, you have created a higher biodiversity as current fields with their monocultures are able to do. By millions of garden owners it is enough if everyone makes some handful conscious decisions for an important contribution for the preservation of the German biodiversity. There is no need for lavish major projects, also small improvements are desirable. There are a lots of ideas on this topic. What about a small wild hedge, a few birdhouses, a little unfertilized flower meadow – for example as orchard under your fruit trees, a drystone wall, a fish-free pond or planting a rare tree species?
